Silver Acorn Award
Past President Brian Taffs has been a member of our club since 1984. He is currently Secretary and for many years has been organising our principal fund raising activities such as the annual Sponsored Walk and the Christmas Collections, We are indeed fortunate to have his services.
Rotary however, is not his only interest. He has been a lifelong member of the 1st Upminster Scout Group and recently was awarded a Silver Acorn which is one of the highest awards in Scouting. This took place at the principal International camping ground and meeting place at , Chingford.
The presentation was made by the London District Scouts Commissioner who referred to Brian’s services to Scouting initially as a youth member, then as a Rover Scout and to date as a member of the Service Team established to help the Group in any way possible. He is a Trustee of the Group’s extensive premises at Brookdale Close, Upminster. Reference was also made by the Commissioner to Brian’s work as a vital member of the Scout District Executive Committee.
Well done Brian
