On Thursday 21st April we were visited by Oyin Oladipo and Sarah Madden to hear all about the Harold Hill Radio. As you will see and hear on the recording Radio Harold Hill is not quite at the level of the BBC and other large broadcasting organisations but it has ambitions.
In his very amusing and interesting talk Oyin explained that the interviewers of the important and varied guests are not professionals but young, the youngest is a 14 year boy and not so young ,the oldest being a mere 74 years young.
It is a radio for local people by local people. With the help of the lottery the staff are given training as not only broadcasters but journalists, researchers other skills that one day will get them a job in such as the BBC.
The belief and hope of the Harold Hill Radio is that they continue for their own benefit and the benefit of Havering
Sarah who is qualified in Equine studies is testament to the good work going on and hopes one day to be a qualified journalist and broadcaster as a result of the training being provided by Harold Hill Radio.
