David Lister is the Operations Director at London Southend Airport.
In David's interesting and well delivered talk we learned a few historical facts ( The airport was an RAF base during WW1 and WW2, In the 60's it became a civilian airport and was the 3rd. largest in the UK. It is the 50th anniversary of the film Goldfinger and some of the scenes were shot at the airport.)
Since the Stobart Group took over the philosophy has always been 'Make everything Easier' with shorter distance to walk and less time to wait.
Before the new airport was developed it dealt with 42,000 passengers a year ,since April 2012 the numbers have risen from 670,000 passengers a byear to over 900,000 and as the number of routes grow (currently 15) and aircraft improve those figures are expected to increase. At the same time the company is maintaining it's ethical standards and there is still potential for all areas of the operations to grow.
