Making a difference to children in emergency care
We were recently joined by Angela Gakis who spoke to us about the great work being carried out by the ‘Buddy Bag Foundation’.
At its simplest level Angela explained how the Buddy Bags provide children entering emergency accommodation with Buddy Bags to restore a sense of safety and security in their lives. Undoubtedly a link with comfort and normality at perhaps one of the most upsetting and stressful times of their life.
She also spoke about the history of the foundation and how it was formed following a visit by its founder, Karen Williams to Australia in 2014.
Angela’s talk was very well received and there were numerous conversations afterwards about how the club and individuals intended to get involved and help out.
