Rotary Shoeboxes

Rotary Shoebox Scheme

Underprivileged children in Eastern Europe are to benefit from the generosity of pupils at St. Margaret's Preparatory School and members of Halstead Rotary Club.  They have provided the gift of one hundred shoeboxes containing either toys, toiletries, educational items or household goods. 

Each shoebox provides hope and happiness to those who live in a world of poverty.  For many, it will be the first present that they have ever received and it lets them know that somebody somewhere cares. The boxes will be distributed to orphanages, hospitals, disabled children and families in need.  

Rotary Vice President Keith Brownlie went along to collect the filled boxes and he thanked all the efforts of Pupils, parents and staff. “Shoe Boxes are a great way of helping disadvantaged families who lack the bare essentials and is a great way of showing  that the School was thinking of others as we begin the countdown to the festive season”.

Headmaster Callum Douglas added,     “The children love taking part in the Rotary Christmas shoe box appeal, and thoroughly enjoy filling the boxes.  It gives them a sense that they are helping a real person and this allows them to feel part of the process”
