At the end of last year (2015) our membership amounted to 15 Rotarians and one ‘Rotary friend’. 2016 has started very well for us as we have managed to increase our numbers by 20%, with three new members joining our ranks. Prior to this our former newest member was inducted in 2010. As President this year I feel honoured and very lucky that this has happened on my watch. We must now make the most of this opportunity to move the club forward, by listening to our recruit’s reasons for joining and their ideas and interests that could help attract others. I have already seen a difference in member’s attitudes as the enthusiasm from relative ‘youth’ percolates its way into the club. Firstly we have more bodies available for any events that we have planned and it will enable us to be more active in the future. Also it has been noticed, after our weekly meetings people are staying on longer chatting with the new folks and just enjoying each other’s company. Rotary fellowship at its best!
