Rotary Shoebox Scheme
Underprivileged children in Eastern Europe are to benefit from the generosity of pupils at St. Margaret's Preparatory School and members of Halstead Rotary Club. They have provided the gift of nearly one hundred shoeboxes containing either toys, toiletries, educational items or household goods.
Each shoebox provides hope and happiness to the people in countries such as Moldova, Ukraine and the Czech Republic who live in a world of poverty. For many, it will be the first present that they have ever received and it lets them know that somebody, somewhere cares. The boxes will be distributed to orphanages, hospitals, disabled children and families in need.
Rotary President Mike Prince went along to collect the filled boxes and was ably assisted by pupils Toby Cutts, Katie Young, Alex Maynard, Harriet Fraser, Oliver Harper and Duncan Bradley.
