Rotary Collection for disaster relief in Nepal

All four Colchester Rotary Clubs are collaborating to collect funds for the disaster-relief in Nepal, which will be funnelled through the Colchester Nepalese Society, who have contacts with the agencies on the ground to ensure that funds are used directly and speedily.
Colchester Rotary collections will be made in Lion Walk on Friday 24th and Saturday 25th, during shopping hours.
At least 1,410 deaths and 6,145 missing persons in Nepal, and 43 deaths and 519 missing in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China were reported.
Authorities issued flood warnings for communities along rivers in the Nepali districts of: Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, and Chitwan.
On the morning of 26 August 2026, a series of flash floods and debris flows destroyed the Gyirong crossing on the China–Nepal border and struck dozens of settlements along a 72 km stretch of the Trishuli River] in Nepal.

Rotary clubs world-wide are working alongside local organizations to gather supplies, establish donation drop-off points, and conduct clothing drives. They are also collaborating with AquaAid to provide essential support.
Rotary members are leading projects to support every phase of disaster recovery and rebuilding efforts, including immediate response, short-term assistance, and long-term rebuilding.
