Over the past four years, with the help,of primary schools and “Bloom” community groups, something like 120,000 purple crocuses have been planted in Alyth, Blairgowrie and Coupar Angus. The crocus corms are bought through the End Polio Now campaign, so the money goes into Rotary’s Polio Fund, and public awareness of the campaign is raised at the same time. The crocuses are purple, because when a child is immunised their pinkie finger is stained purple.
