We held our Handover Meeting today because President Francis was away last week and was therefore unable to hand over to President Graham then. In fact they have swapped offices. Francis Whitbread is now our Secretary in Graham’s place.

A white-haired man wearing a chain of office>He reminded members that this year’s Club Council will consist of himself, Anne Moriaty (1st Vice President), Francis, Bob Booker (Treasurer), David Axon, Keith Dabbs and Keith Otter.

Graham congratulated Francis on his successful third term as President. He mentioned that Anne Moriaty will be our President in 2027, when all the Chelmsford Rotary Clubs will be joining to celebrate one hundred years of Rotary in Chelmsford. Our is the oldest of the city’s Clubs.

Unfortunately, like Rotary as a whole, we were finding it difficult to attract new members. We will therefore not be pursuing any overseas projects in the current Rotary year but will concentrate on the activities we have carried out successfully over several years now, including the Spring and Autumn Jumble Sales, the Senior Citizens’ Summer Party and their annual visit to the panto, quizzes for local charities, Santa’s Grotto and Rotary Young Musician. We need to find a venue for the Grotto and a volunteer to take the lead on Young Musician.

Graham also hopes we will be able to continue our links with Sanctus.
