3 October 2024: Farewell to Jenny

A mgrey-haired lady wearing a black jacket over a blue and white patterned dressToday 26 of us descended on Olio on the Green to wish farewell to our much-loved former Secretary and Past President Jenny Black. She and her husband, Richard, have just moved to Bury St Edmunds. The 26 consisted of members and their spouses and all three representatives of our corporate member, Backhouse Solicitors. The restaurant had prepared three long tables for us.

We all ordered our meals and drinks on arrival. There was a general buzz of conversation as we waited and then as we consumed our food.

After the meal President Francis gave a short tribute; Jenny had been a member of our Club for 22 years. He then presented Jenny with a bunch of flowers and a card signed by all those present. Jenny gave a short speech in response. She expects to join one of the two Rotary Clubs in Bury St Edmunds but promised to come back to see us occasionally.

We had all retained enough in our glasses to toast Jenny and Richard at the end. We are grateful for all Jenny has done over the last 22 years and do indeed wish her and Richard well. We also hope to see them both again.
