A Zoom 'Join meeting' pageWe held today’ meetings on Zoom, which meant we were able to welcome Jenny Black to her last meeting as a member. She will be transferring to the Rotary Club of Bury St Edmunds on 1 January. Hopefully we will still see her from time to time.

The Special General Meeting was held first. We elected the following officers for 2025-26:

  • President: Graham Furnival
  • 1st Vice President: Anne Moriaty
  • Secretary: Francis Whitbread
  • Assistant Secretary: Ketih Dabbs
  • Treasurer: Bob Booker
  • Independent Examiner: Francis Whitbread

At the business meeting we received the Treasurer’s report and agreed the Club should donate £750 to the Rotary Foundation.

Janice Goodman confirmed that our entry in the Writtle Christmas Tree Festival would be on display over the weekend and that the local heat of Rotary Young Musician would be held at St Cedd&squo;s School on 10 January. This will start at 6:30 pm, which is earlier than usual, because of the number of entrants.

President Francis reported that all recent events, including the jumble sale and the quiz for the Wilderness Foundation, had gone well. Purple crocus corm have been distributed to participating local schools but there are still some left.

The President and Vice Presidents will be putting forward a proposed new pattern of meetings to be put in place from 1 July next year. This will include one informal meeting each month.
