We were pleased to welcome Indu Tiwari to this meeting as a guest. Hopefully he will be able to rejoin as a member in a couple of months time.

Two men standing side by side, one wearing a chain of officeThis was our Club Assembly, when the incoming Service Chairs normally give their plans for the Rotary year ahead. Since we no longer have Service Chairs, President Francis set out his plans and hopes instead. He had already covered most of them in his address to the June business meeting. He emphasised that nothing would happen without volunteers coming forward to make things happen and encouraged us to support member Anne Moriaty during her year as District Governor. He also confirmed that, following consultation with the members, Kids Inspire would be his charity for the year.

AG Keith Harman, resplendent in his tie displaying the 2024-25 Rotary theme, reviewed the District’s plans for the year ahead and reminded us of the Joint District Conference being held with District 1080 on the weekend of 11-13 October. He mentioned that the Rotary Club of Danbury & Villages is organising a District-wide event to attract new members to Rotary and suggested we try to recruit more corporate members to our Club.
