As usual, we held our business meeting at the Chelmsford Rugby Club. In the absence of our President on holiday, most of the proceedings were chaired by Past President Graham Furnival. President Francis joined us from Spain by Zoom and chaired the business part of the meeting. (And made us envious when he told us what the temperature was in Spain.)
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved. It was noted that the costs of the Chelmsford heat of Young Musician have now been paid from the Trust Account and sufficient transferred from General Charities into the Young Musician fund to cover most of next year’s expected costs.
Rose Buggle, who came second in the Vocalist section of Young Musician in Chelmsford this year, has been placed first in both the District Final and the Regional Final and is now entered for the National Final.
On the second Thursday of this month we will hold an informal meeting at the Great Baddow Millennium Community Centre. Unfortunately our bimonthly visits to Sanctus have not gone as we expected and we may have to think of different ways to support them. We need to discuss what we do on second Thursdays for the next Rotary year.
The Chelmsford Cathedral Chapter House has been booked for our Senior Guests’ Summer Party on 29 June.
Our latest pull-up banner includes a photograph taken some years ago when we were supporting Sahiwal School in Pakistan. Mo Sadiq has asked the Rotary Club there for information on what the two girls shown in the picture are doing now.
