Instead of having lunch at one of our usual venues today we went to Sanctus, the charity supporting homeless and vulnerable people in Chelmsford and Essex. More specifically, we ate at their café in Broomfiled Road which they do not operate on a commercial basis nut to provide nutritious lunches for the homeless people of Chelmsford. We went at a time when we were not interfering with the normal charitable activities.
The staff and volunteers made us feel very welcome and we enjoyed some of their excellent food. The photograph shows the manager with our member Chuda Karki and volunteers and Rotairans in the background.
We thank the trustees, staff and volunteers at Sanctus for facilitating our visit and looking after us so well while we were there. We raised £255, which will pay for the basic ingredients of meals for over sixty people for two weeks. We hope this will be the first of many visits.
