Business meeting and Special AGM

We had the second of our 100 Club draws today. John Knott spun his famous “100 Club Wheel”. (See picture.) Bob Booker’s ball came out.

We then started our meetings proper with the Special General Meeting and the election of officers for 2023-24. Those elected were:

• President: Indu Tiwari
• First Vice-President: Francis Whitbread
• Second Vice-President: Ajay Sinha
• Secretary: Jenny Black
• Assistant Secretary: Keith Dabbs
• Treasurer: Bob Booker
• Independent Examiner: Francis Whitbread

The main debate at our business meeting was about the structure of future meetings. It was agreed in principle that on one week each month instead of our usual lunchtime meeting we should do something different, such as a coffee morning or a visit to a place of interest followed by a meal in a restaurant or café for those who would like it. We may also reduce some of our meeting formalities, eg by dropping the dress code and no longer starting the meal with grace and ending it with the loyal toast.
