Another event for the older generation is a visit to the pantomime at the Civic Theatre, which has been an annual event for the Club for many years. Covid prevented this in 2021, but we were very pleased to take over 20 guests to the afternoon performance of “Beauty And The Beast” on 2 January 2022. We had some very kind comments from our guests on the way home from the theatre and as tickets are already on sale for next year’s pantomime, we are looking forward to an equally successful visit at the start of 2023. We are also planning for a summer party for some of Chelmsford’s older residents, having been prevented from holding this event in 2020 and 2021 due to covid restrictions.
C&V Chairman Francis Whitbread sends his grateful thanks to all the members of the Club who assisted with the various events. Particular mention should be made of “Santa” John Knott, Janice and Phil Goodman for all their work in making the pantomime visit such a success, and Colin Murphy and his colleagues from Backhouse Solicitors, our business members, not least for filling in at very short notice in transporting two of our guests to and from the panto when our President Peter tested positive for covid.
The C&V committee looks forward to continuing its diverse activities during 2022.
