We found ourselves unexpectedly back on Zoom for today’s meeting. Our meeting venue was unable to cater for us because of Covid-related issues.
Our speaker, Ann Davis from the MS Society therefore found herself addressing us on Zoom for the second time, missing on the lunch we had promised her. Hopefully we will be able to give her a lunch with us before too long.
She gave us a short update on her previous talk. She read a letter she had received from a woman who has suffered from multiple sclerosis for over 20 years. She said that she often found other people unsympathetic because she does not look as though she is suffering from a debilitating condition. Ann mentioned that this was a common experience among MS sufferers. They can often feel fatigued, which goes beyond mere tiredness. Telling them they will feel better if they become more active doesn’t help! She hopes that public awareness of MS will improve.
She also mentioned the Society’s “Stop MS” campaign, which aims to raise £100 Million to finance research. So far they are half way to that target.
