A number of our members were away on holiday today but a potential member did join us for lunch and for the business meeting afterwards.
The Club Administration Committee reported that it had been agreed with the Ivy Hill Hotel where we usually meet that in future our meetings should begin with lunch at 12:45.
The Chair of the Public Image Committee has created new accounts for us on Twitter and Instagram. Abbreviated versions of our Bulletin will be prepared for posting on social media.
The Chair of the Community & Vocational Committee said that he is hoping to book tickets for the panto at the Civic Theatre so we can organise a Senior Guests’ Visit as we have in the past. The Danbury Village Hall has been booked for a jumble sale on 6 November 2021 but the team of local ladies who have helped us previously is no longer available; consideration also needs to be given to the disposal of any items left over.
The Youth Service Committee has been told the Chelmsford Competitive Festival will be going ahead this November, albeit in a restricted form; we plan to attend as usual so we can invite appropriate competitors to enter the local heat of the Rotary Young Musician Competition in January next year but extra help will be needed from members to do this. The Committee Chair is arranging a local heat of the Rotary Youth Speaks competition and will ask local youth organisations whether they know any young person suitable for nomination for a Rotary Youth Award. He will also try to reestablish the Rotakids and Interact Clubs we sponsor.
