Today we were joined online by Rtn Amita Pradhan, President of the Rotary Club of Chandragiri in Nepal. We have entered into a joint project with that Club to provide ceilings for a girls’ school in Nepal.
The Rotary Club of Chandragiri is in District 3292, which covers Nepal and Bhutan. The District has 142 Rotary Clubs, 123 Rotaract Clubs and 136 Interact Clubs. There are 5,123 Rotarians.
The Chandragiri Club was chartered in 2008. It has 26 members, 18 of whom are Paul Harris Fellows. It sponsors two Rotaract Clubs, including one at the KIST Medical College, and two Interact Clubs.
It is helps the community through a variety of initiatives and has its own Education Endowment Fund awarding scholarship to girls. Other projects include:
Like many other Clubs, the Chandragiri Club finds there are limits on the amount of time, effort and money members can give. It is often just a few members who contribute the most. Additional members are needed with expertise in law and media.
Nevertheless, they are obviously a vibrant Club and we look forward to working with them in the future.
