Traditional theatrical masks of Comedy and Tragedy

Each year we arrange a number of social events, including visits to interesting places and countryside walks. Club members also enjoy sporting activities, particularly on the badminton courts plus engagement in the various sporting activities with other Clubs in the District.

The Roundabouts triumph again!

Four stylised question marks with a yellow tick overlaying themOn Saturday, 20 May 2023, ouf Club fielded a formidable quiz team, the “Roundabouts”, consisting of Anne and Steve Moriaty, Janice and Phil Goodman, Bob and Jean Booker and Peter Kemp. They met teams from other Clubs to compete in the Rotary Club of Chelmsford Phoenix’s Quiz Night held in the Cygams Hall in Meteor Way.

Janice and Phil arrived straight from our Club’s Jumble Sale held earlier in the day and hadn’t even had an opportunity to change out of their Rotary polo’s and fleeces.

Using the tactics of deploying our “Joker” option (double points) in the first round, the Roundabouters, with an almost perfect first round score, went straight into the lead. A position they managed to hold for the remaining nine rounds of the quiz, out quizzing all of the opposition and winning a bottle of wine each!

This was the second year running our Club’s team has won the Phoenix Quiz Night.

The Phoenix Club Quiz Night raised over £800 for Rotary charities.
