In March this year we were invited by Paolo Fortuna, Rotary Club of Alba Secretary, and now President 2023-4, to join his club and the other four double triangular clubs in Alba between September 7-10 2023.
This year we are also to be joined by the Rotary Club of Sant Cugat from Barcelona, Catalonia, (members may recall we participated in an on-line orchestral performance during Covid Lockdown, organised by this club at Alba’s request).
The detailed program followed in mid-May which included collection from Turin Airport on Thursday September 7, transport to Alba and dinner that evening. Friday and Saturday were full days with a tour of the castles of the region (Langhe) followed by a “Family Dinner” on Friday, and a visit to the market, a truffle hunt and the Gala Dinner on the Saturday. President’s meeting, and transport back to Turin on the Sunday.
President-elect Patrick Rothon and Carol, International Chairman Malcolm Acors and Sue, Les Sheppard and Val, plus four singletons – Brian Wellman, Stephen King, Michael Dunne and Peter Greene, are all going from the Rotary Club of Billericay. We expect to be joined by our neighbours from the Rotary Club of Basildon, and we are all very much looking forward to meeting up with our fellow Rotarians from France, Sweden and Italy, and now Catalonia!
Not to mention of course, the very interesting program which has been laid out for us all.
All members will be travelling from our local airport - Stansted - to Turin in early afternoon on Thursday September 7, and all except Malcolm and Sue (who are staying on for a few days in Turin), will return early evening from Turin, also to Stansted on Sunday September 10.
It’ll be great - Rotary Friendship at its best!
