Investiture of the new 2022/23 ROtaKids Officers at Quilters Junior School
Focus On Happiness And Well-Being
Wet prelude, sunny finish on Friday November 8 when President Michael and Youth Chairman Michael Sinclair attended Assembly at Quilters Junior School. They met in the car park ahead of their 2.45pm appointment and had to sit in their cars for a full five minutes until the heavens had completely emptied. The rain then stopped as suddenly as it had begun, and the sun shone through.
They strolled to the school in good time for Friday Assembly taken by headteacher, Michael Wade. He introduced them to the school and invited themto say a few words about themelves. President Michael explained his role in the Billericay Rotary Club and enlightened all by advising them that many years ago his own children had attended Quilters School before going to Billericay School and then onto university. All present then read the RotaKids Pledge.
Role Models
Mr. Wade then went on to elaborate, telling the children that Rotarians are role models because of the amount of work they do for the community without personal payment, and raising funds for good causes and giving their time freely.
He explained that RotaKids school council was this year being divided into two parts. One part was focussing on community happiness and well-being and the other part focussing on school happiness and well-being.
The RotaKids School Council were asked to stand up and Mr. Wade nominated the officers and took the officers badges for distribution afterwards. The ordinary members badges were also taken for distribution later.
The assembly continued with the announcement of the individual merit awards with the children urged to be “the best version of you, you can possibly be”. After the children returned to their class rooms Mr. Wade posed for photographs with our President.
