Planning Proceeds

International Chairman Malcolm Acors emailed all members “Fellow Rotarians of the Rotary Club of Billericay.  It is with great pleasure that I can now announce that we have received an invitation from the Rotary Club of Karlshamn for the Double Triangular visit 2022. The proposed dates are September 8-11, 2022.”

The invitation from President Steen Jenssen and President-Elect Bo Gardesköld of Karlshamn Rotary Club includes an invitation to their 70th year anniversary gala dinner and starts with a “warm Rotary welcome - bienvenu - benvenuto to Karlshamn in September, 2022!”

A Moose Safari?

The tentative programme starts on Thursday evening with a get-together with some easy activities, and food and drinks.  On the following days they are working on different options; an interesting possibility is to make a bus trip to the original IKEA museum in Älmhult with moose safari and black granite quarry on the way home.

Several local activities to choose from on the Saturday, a home party with Rotarian hosts, their weekly Rotary meeting, and as a grand final the 70th year anniversary gala dinner. Sunday there will be the traditional president´s meeting, with lunch for everyone before leaving Karlshamn.  (Plan for an evening flight home.)

Getting There

Arrival at Copenhagen airport (CPH) on September 8, before 2.00 pm. At the airport we will be met and taken to the direct train to Karlshamn, a comfortable journey of about 2½ hours.  A considerable number of rooms have been prebooked at the centrally located Hotel Karlshamn (www.hotelcarlshamn.se).  Definite bookings await your confirmation of attendance.

Practical considerations

Cost per participant will be in the same range as previous twinning meetings and include cost of hotel (double room) with breakfast, group activities and meals. Weather should be still very pleasant at this time of year well suited for warm casual dress most of the time, and some preparedness for an occasional rain shower, informal for the gala dinner.
