The two Billericay Rotary clubs linking together to support Billericay Rugby Club with urgently needed new training Bibs

Rotary Aid And Rugby Bibs

The continuing excellent relationship between the two Billericay Rotary clubs, ourselves and our friends in the Rotary Club of Billericay Mayflower, showed itself again in a joint endeavour for the local community.  And it’s down to the local rugby club, literally, to see how successful it has been.

Local & International Support

Roger Kettle reports: “I believe the vast majority of the public have heard of Rotary and understand it is a charitable organisation looking to support good causes on an international, national and local basis. The most well known one is, of course, Rotary’s international drive to eradicate polio from the world, but we also look to support our local communities across a wide range of initiatives.

“Which is why the two Rotary clubs linking together to support Billericay Rugby Club’s excellent drive to encourage local youth to participate in and enjoy the game and team spirit of rugby is a wonderful community  effort.

Training And Coaching

“They have been so successful that they have, at weekends, been attracting between 200 and 300 youngsters between the ages of  five to 16 for training and coaching sessions. How appropriate then to be seen to support their efforts by making a donation of some kind.

“In conjunction with the Rugby Club’s treasurer Colin Petrie it was decided the purchase of a quantity of training bibs would be most beneficial. So, the two clubs then made a joint purchase and handed these bibs over to Colin.  The photographs show some of the youngsters wearing these bibs with the Rotary logo.

“The Billericay Rugby Club itself has been supportive of events organised by Rotary so it was especially pleasing to support them and their worthwhile initiative.”
