New President Les Sheppard took the opportunity at our normal lunch time meeting in early July to present our PR Chairman and Club Newsletter editor with the shield for the Best Club Newsletter in the District.
A hat-trick of awards as we have won it for the past three years. (Stan - do we get to keep it now?). All this on top of winning the Rotary GB&I national Newsletter of the Year which IPP Peter had received on his behalf in Torquay.
Newsletter Editor Trevor Bond reflects on winning the award for the third year in succession. "I have said before, two things which I repeat now. Firstly, I am grateful for the Newsletter being recognised against such serious competition, both within District 1240 and, nationally, against all the Rotary Clubs of Great Britain and Ireland. Secondly, although I am editor, it has been a great team effort with active participation by Peter Greene and the printing prowess of Malcom and Tom Acors.
In my fifty years in journalism, I was lucky enoug to win an award or two. None gave me such pleasure as much as this has done for myself and, above all, for our wonderful club. I am humble but I am proud of what we have achieved between us, none of which could have happend without the hundred per cent support of all the members.
I thank you all."
