Youth Competitions 2020/21
Competitions, in 3 age groups, that are open to pupils living in or attending schools or youth organisations in Bearsden and Milngavie area.
While Covid is restricting or preventing soem of the annual youth competions that Rotary run there are several that we can still run. This year Allander is expanding the competitions we are running and making it easier to take part.
Usually these are run in conjunction with schools but not all of our local schools opt to take part. This year, as well as schools, we have written to local youth organisations as well (Scouts, Guides, BB, GB). While competition rules say that entries must be via a school or local youth organisation, we are able, through Milngavie Youth Centre, to enable those whose school or youth organisation have decided not to participate to be able to take part. Winners of the Allander competition go onto our District competition and then, hopefully, a UK competition.
There are three age groups: (age as at 31 August 2020)
Junior: 7 to 10 years old
Intermediate: 11 to 13 years old
Senior: 14 to 17 years old

Young Photographer (Wild Nature)
Young Artist (Wild Nature)
Young Writer (My Happiest Day)
Young Environmentalist (Climate Change/Carbon Reduction) Note that this is an individual and a group (max 4, Junior & Intermediate only) competition

Primary School Quiz 2023
more Annual Quiz for local EDC Primary Schools. Teams of 4 from P7. Winners were Castlehill PS who went onto the District final where they came a very credible 2nd.
Young Writer 2018
more Sarah Greer is presented with her certificate as 2018 Winner of the local Senior Young Writer's Competition. Young Writer is a well established and successful competition promoted by Rotary International in Britain and Ireland.
2018 Quiz District Winners - Milngavie Primary
more Following their win in our Annual Quiz for all of the Primary Schools in Bearsden, Milngavie and immediate surrounding area (13 primary schools) Milngavie have now successfully won the West of Scotland District Competition.
Young Musician 2018
more Esther Ersfold Mandujano a 4th year pupil at Douglas Academy won the Instrumental Prize at the District Final of Rotary Young Musician held in the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Unfortunately Esther was unsuccessful at the Regional Final.
