Rotary Classic and Heritage Vehicle Show

On Sunday 26th June we held our first Rotary Classic & Heritage Vehicle Show at Carsington Water alongside our colleagues at the Rotary Club of Derby South and the Rotary Club of Derby Daybreak. 

The event which had previously been run by the local Air Ambulance charity had struggled to continue due to the lack of available volunteers so as a group of Rotary clubs we stepped in to take it on. The local Air Ambulance will still be the main beneficiary of the event but it will also benefit other local charities too. 

It was a beautiful day, a bit windy, but the sun was shining. We had concerns that as the event clashed with the Derbyshire County Show it would affect our numbers but it far exceeded our expectations. There were over 250 classic vehicles in attendance, all contributed to the fundraising and our online sales alone raised almost £1000. There was a  wide range of vehicles in attendance with classic cars from many eras, some spotless and some in the process of being restored. We also had a display of heritage africultural vehicles.  

The event was free to the public and was so busy that even the overspill car parks were reaching capacity for most of the day.

Fab music was provided by Shades of Rock UK which gave a great soundtrack to the day. Refreshments were provided by Carsington Water with a tasty BBQ or a choice of restaurants.
