A fundraising appeal for new kit, launched by the Ability Counts section of Wellington AFC, has received a boost from local Rotarians.
A fundraising appeal for new kit, launched by the Ability Counts section of Wellington AFC, has received a boost from local Rotarians.
The group welcome adult and junior players (11 years upwards) with SEND, long-term health conditions, and all disabilities.
Richard Williams, president of the Rotary Club of Wellington, went along to their latest training session to hand over a cheque for £250 towards their appeal.
A Rotary spokesperson said the donation was part of the club’s ongoing commitment to support local good causes and organisations.
“We feel strongly that sport should be open to all regardless ability and hope this donation helps in some small way to encourage others to come forward and support the team.”
Mike Bird, of behalf of the Ability Counts section, said: “We were delighted to receive this very generous donation towards our new kit – the players are currently wearing a mix of different shirts.
“Any remaining funds from the appeal will be used to purchase equipment to support our amazing group of players.”

The group use the 3G pitch at Court Fields School on Sunday afternoons and also compete in the Somerset Ability Counts League.
