THANK YOU CHARD

Results of a collection for Ukraine.

THE Rotary Club of Chard has raised more than £3000 with a campaign in support of Ukraine.

During the month of March, the club raised £3,581 in donations to stop the humanitarian disaster in Ukraine.

Funds were collected from shoppers at Tesco Superstore in Chard, and a further £968 from individual donations and the congregation of St. Mary’s Church.

All proceeds from the event will fund Rotary’s efforts to provide support for Ukrainian refugees both inside Ukraine and surrounding countries.

Club president, Peter Stefanovic said: “Once again, the people of Chard have shown their truly staggering generosity when a humanitarian crisis occurs.

“The hardship suffered by the people of Ukraine is in the foremost of people’s minds, and the Rotary connections, both in Ukraine, and surrounding countries will ensure the needs of the refugees are met. The club’s fundraising efforts will continue with several fundraising events soon”.

Rotary members improve lives and bring positive, lasting change to communities around the world by promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, supporting education, saving mothers and children, and growing local economies.

Rotary brings together a global network of community leaders dedicated to tackling the world’s most pressing humanitarian challenges.

Their service improves lives both locally and internationally, from helping those in need in their own communities to working toward a polio-free world.
