Chard Rotarians and partners spent a hectic weekend supporting the Chard Town Team at, what has become an annual Summer Festival.
The weekend's work started on Saturday evening when Rotary marshalls joined with the Carnival Club to escort a medieval themed procession from the Marketfield car park, at the bottom of the Town, to The Beacon at Mitchell Gardens where a Ferris Wheel, music and other attractions had been set up to entertain a substantial crowd of residents. They then maintained a presence until the Beacon was lit at around 9.30pm.
The following morning Rotarians arrived at Jocelyn Park to set up a Tombola stall which was raising funds for the Club's charities, as well as providing publicity space for Chard Inner Wheel Club and the Chard and Crewkerne After Stroke Group. A number of Rotarians then moved to Crowshute car park to help the Carnival Club escort a procession down the main street to Jocelyn Park.
During the afternoon the Tombola stall welcomed a large number of visitors to the festivities, raising the profile of Rotary in the town as well as raising a £145.
The Club would like to thank everyone who supported them during the event.
