For many years Rossendale Rotary Club have given money to our local Primary Schools to help them with their developments. St Mary’s in Rawtenstall had support to help them with their library project, Balladen have been assisted to buy an interactive whiteboard, and Haslingden have been given a grant to help them fund more computer equipment.
The club also encourages Secondary Schools to take part in an annual Northwest Technology Tournament, and each year we sponsor a student to experience an intensive week on the Rotary Youth Leadership Programme in the Lake District.
In addition to all of this, a member of the club, Stuart Holt, who is responsible for the youth development work, proposed that they set up a competition to celebrate the Art Work done by students in our valley schools. The club readily agreed to this idea and to give cash prizes to the winning students and to set up an exhibition of all the entries, for the public to enjoy. The theme that they were asked to represent in their art was 'The Beauty of the Earth'.
