On Thursday 13th July members and guests of the Rotary Club of South Queensferry enjoyed a talk by Brian Johnson, a new member. Brian described his early career as an engineering apprentice with Welwyn Electronics. He then moved to NEI Electronics where he was involved in draughting components for power stations. Brian studied for an engineering degree at night school which led to a job with paper manufacturer Kimberley Clark. This lasted twenty-one years until the production plant closed. In a radical career change, Brian accepted a job as a guard on Virgin Trains. He later transferred to Cross Country Trains based in Newcastle and travelling between Edinburgh and Birmingham. He retired in 2020 and moved from Ashington to South Queensferry to be closer to family and grandchildren.
Brian was introduced by President Neil McKinlay. The vote of thanks was proposed by Jim McCulloch.
