It was evening of mixed emotions in the club last Thursday evening the 6th July. Following his excellent presentation of Part 2 of Sandy Mackenzie's Year as President we sadly bade farewell to Gerald Smith who is retiring from the club after 28 years of unstinting service.
Gerald took time to reminice about his memories of his service and his particular highlights from his long association with the club. And boy did he achieve so much during this time from spearheading the fantastic "Lend with Care" initiative , re energising the club's Foundation Charity appeal , key player in the Rotary Raft Race event ,taking charge of the Santa Sleigh organisation, the "go to" person for organising all the stewarding for the Hopetoun House events.....the list goes on and on.
As Gerald put it " sometimes you have to put your head above a pararpit to make things happen" . Well you certainly did that " in spades" Gerald .
All the members wish you a very pleasant "retirement" and thank you most sincerely for your massive contribution to Rotary over the years. We also pass on our very best wishes to your dear wife Sue. Please do not be a stranger to the club, we would love to see you back anytime.
