On Thursday 2nd March, members and guests of the Rotary Club of South Queensferry enjoyed a job talk from recently recruited club member Tamsin Gee.

While studying for an MSc in Human Resources Management, Tamsin moved back to her home town of Dundee to care for her father who had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. She volunteered for work with Dundee International Women's Centre, which empowers women, boosts their confidence and improves their lives by offering skills training and education. Tamsin's time there included being HR Director and Chair of the Board. This experience was invaluable when she joined Landmarc.

Landmarc is an organisation which supports our troops by providing effective environments for military training from ensuring shooting ranges are safe to providing modern and comfortable living quarters for the armed forces. It also looks after the rural military estate, even managing forestry. Landmarc staff have a unique understanding of military training and secure environments as more than 25% of the workforce are ex-military veterans.

Tamsin showed an interesting video of UK forces training Ukrainian recruits from all walks of life to prepare them for front line combat on parts of the military estate managed by Landmarc.

As a Landmarc Human Resources Manager, Tamsin was instrumental in introducing a series of employee networks within the business based on shared life experiences. For example a year ago StandOUT was launched for members of the LGBT+ Community.

Tamsin's fascinating talk gave an insight into a little-known aspect of Human Resources and of the structures involved in providing a suitable environment for military training.

Tamsin was introduced by President Sandy Mackenzie. Jim McCulloch proposed the vote of thanks.
