On Thursday 13th January President Derek Clark of the Rotary Club of South Queensferry welcomed everyone to the weekly virtual meeting. The speaker was new member Emma O'Hara. As is customary in Rotary she was talking about her background and job. Born in a village on the shore of Lough Neagh near Lurgan in Northern Ireland, Emma's childhood pleasures were swimming, Brownies and Irish Dancing. She learned the violin and joined a speech and drama group. As a member of a local choir, Emma enjoyed a trip to Rome where they sang at the Irish Embassy. Emma attended the University of Ulster in Belfast. After a couple of course changes, she settled on a hospitality degree. At the end of graduating, she and three friends went to Auckland in New Zealand where she worked as a receptionist at the Copthorne Hotel for a year.
On her return, Emma moved to Edinburgh to work in the Hotel du Vin & Bistro Group as clients and sales co-ordinator. She went on to work for Execspace as an account manager and then as a supplier manager. Since 2016, Emma has been working for Royal London and has had the roles of Supplier Risk and Assurance Manager. Presently she is Senior Supplier Assurance Manager working with a small team. President Derek thanked Emma for her contribution to the club's Christmas Santa events and her input to the club's social media. We hope she will enjoy her Rotary experience. Emma was introduced by Sandy Mackenzie. Neil McKinlay proposed the vote of thanks.
