Zoom Meeting

On Thursday 1st July, the Rotary Club of South Queensferry held a Zoom meeting to mark the end of  Irene Brownless's year as president and install Derek Clark as president for Rotary Year 2021-22. President Irene welcomed members, partners and friends to the meeting, including Terry Keefe from Southport , Sheena Muncie and Lesley MacKenzie. She then introduced Gerald Smith, who showed a presentation of the first half of Irene's year as president. His video showed excerpts from some of the speakers who had addressed the club on Zoom as well as the virtual Rammy Night, planting crocuses for Foundation by local schools and preparing Rosebery Hall gardens for the Christmas lights. The switch-on with Keith Giblett and the Rotary Santa plus many other club activities also featured. President Irene  thanked all club members for their support over the year and Vice President Derek and Secretary Liz Mackenzie for their invaluable help. President Irene thanked the council and administration team and said Graham Leith had been an outstanding Santa. She wished Graham and Linda well in their new life in Aberdeenshire. Irene then handed over the meeting to her successor, incoming president Derek who congratulated Irene for all she had achieved in 2020-21 despite the limitations imposed by Covid 19. He promised that she could have her photograph taken in the presidential chair as soon as the club was able to move back to the Hawes Inn, though this might still be some time ahead. He proposed a toast to Immediate Past President Irene and said that a picture of the chain being handed over and highlights from the second half of Irene's presidential year would be shown at next week's meeting.

In other business, secretary Liz let members know that Keith Giblett had thanked Rotary for acknowledging the work of the ladies of Queensferry and District Community Council with Community Awards.
