Our Rotary Environmental team supported by other community volunteers have been working very hard on a major project during the past 9 months to build a sustainable garden and outdoor learning area for Queensferry High School, one of our Rotary Community Members. This fantastic asset was handed over to the school on the 1st of September and comprises extensive raised vegetable beds, a polytunnel greenhouse and a large seating area with pergola. The savings in labour costs to the school we estimate would approach £25k.
During the official handover event attended by various Rotary members, other community volunteers and teaching staff, Kenny Manson the school Deputy Head expressed his sincere gratitude to the club for all their efforts . He explained this asset will now enable pupils to develop their horticultural skills and also facilitate a wide range of other subjects to be taught in a welcoming outdoor environment , weather permitting of course.
