Recommended by a friend of his, John has secured Mansel Davies, a speaker from Shropshire's Safeguarding Children Board, to tell us more about eSafety and bring the Rotary Club up to speed on this - 'good for relevance to Lifeline and Mock Interviews' as John points out.
John will then tell us something about the "Dark Web".

Mansel Davies :
“I am a former teacher having worked in both Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin. I have experience of Primary, Secondary and Special (ESD) schools; I have also worked as a police officer for West Mercia Police.
For fourteen years I worked for Shropshire Council as a Safeguarding Adviser in Education Improvement . Following re-structuring of the service I have decided to use my experience to continue supporting Schools, the Council and Shropshire Safeguarding Children’s Board (SSCB) as an Independent Adviser, who can offer training, support and challenge.”
Currently I am working as an independent Data Protection Officer (DPO) supporting 22 Shropshire schools.

The "Dark Web" is the encrypted network that exists between Tor servers and their clients, whereas the "Deep Web" is simply the content of databases and other web services that for one reason or another cannot be indexed by conventional search engines.
A Tor server aims to conceal its users' identities and their online activity from surveillance and traffic analysis by separating identification and routing. It is an implementation of onion routing, which encrypts and then randomly bounces communications through a network of relays run by volunteers around the globe.
