STOP PRESS - Postponed from Friday 2nd March
Good luck to Oswestry School Seniors and Moreton Hall Intermediate who will represent our Club in this competition.
Report from John Ward
I thought you might like to know how our 2 local schools fared at the District 1180 Public Speaking Competition.
In the Intermediates Moreton Hall were speaking about Anorexia. They did not come first as a team but Maya Falah won the individual Best Chairman place. Whilst they did not win I did point out they were there and had done themselves and their school proud.
In the Senior section, which was split into 2 groups with a team from each going through to the next round, Oswestry School were in Group A. They won the Best Speaker award speaking about 'Science Fighting Dogma or Skinny Dipping in Bognor. What is Freedom', with the Chairman and Vote of Thanks going to Ysgol Eirias, Colwyn Bay. We sat there on tenterhooks then whilst the Chair of Judges commented on all the teams. Eventually he declared the winner to be Oswestry School who will be going to the next round!!!!
Well done to Valeriia Chertilina - Speaker, Masie Evans - Chair and Tsveta Stratieva - Vote of Thanks.
The next round is a week tomorrow Sunday 18th March at Best Western Forest Hills Hotel, Frodsham at 10.45 am.
Thanks to Sue, Mark and Robin for the company last night, and thanks to Jenny for the organisation.
