‘Purple for Polio’ Crocus Planting - Cae Glas Park

Tue, Oct 3rd 2017 at 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Paul Moss and Will Lyons from the Derwen College brought two groups of students to help plant 5,000 crocus corms on the top left hand corner of the Cae Glas Park site opposite the former Wall’s Restaurant.

Continuing Rotary's ‘Purple for Polio’ crocus planting, Foundation Chair Justin sought permission from both Oswestry Town Council and Shropshire County Council for this year’s crocus planting.

25,000 crocus corms were collected from Tarporley. 10,000 of these for our Club and Borderland Rotary jointly and 5,000 crocus each for Welshpool RC, Newtown RC and Llanidloes RC.

Justin carried out a site visit on Cae Glas Park with two staff representatives from Derwen College (Paul Moss & Will Lyons) on Wednesday 27th September and agreed that they would bring two groups of students to help plant 5,000 crocus corms - one morning and one afternoon group with a start time of 10am on Tuesday 3rd October on the Cae Glas Park site (top left hand corner opposite former Wall’s Restaurant).

The ‘Greenfingers’ staff who maintain Cae Glas Park are very keen to help us in any way they can and are very happy that we are planting crocus in the park.

Arrangements were made for Derwen College to be able to park their minibus in the park by the planting site.
