In June 2016, Oswestry Chamber of Commerce revisited the possibility of bringing the benefits of a Business Improvement District (BID) to Oswestry.
Speaking in the summer, Oswestry Town Mayor said "I fully commit to support the investigation now underway for Oswestry to promote a Business Improvement District. The Town Council has facilitated this step and I was greatly encouraged just a couple of weeks ago when some of our business community came together and recognised the potential benefits and funding that could be accrued that could be maximised through partnership funding. This process has to be led by our business community but I pledge to work closely with them to see if a Business Improvement District is a viable option for Oswestry going forward."
