Lunchtime Meeting - 12.45pm - Speaker J Thompson

Mon, Mar 14th 2016 at 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm

John will review his technical background to current social networks from PhD project to collaboration in Europe which is very topical with June 23 looming.

Taking the underlying 50th anniversary of Digital TV this year on board, John delivered a fascinating talk where he, modestly, revealed something of his role in developing digital television on a British, European and World stage.

Commenting from the floor after the talk, David Griffiths revealed that he had once encountered someone who had referred to John as (reverentially) THE John Thompson

Nevertheless, John also let it slip that he bears collective responsibility for the inadequacy to the quality of the sound on HDTV albeit that the quality of image is remarkable.

Thank you John for a very interesting talk and for shining the light on your notable career for us.
