A Pakistani health worker gives polio vaccine to a child at a bus terminal in Rawalpindi, Pakistan on Feb. 16, 2015
Our Foundation Committee continues to report each month, or more frequently, on the encouraging battle against the terrible disease polio. The current update can be read on the Foundation Committee's page - here.
Whilst the battle worldwide continues with the number of circulating vaccine derived cases now reaching similar levels to reported wild virus case numbers elsewhere, in Pakistan the number of wild virus cases has risen to the highest number in over a decade. In 2014 the country broke its own record of reporting the highest number of cases in a single year since 2000 - 303, as compared to the previous high of 199 in that year.
What can Pakistan do to beat polio?
