ECUADOR EARTHQUAKE APPEAL
Wadebridge Rotary Club provides shelters for homeless Ecuadorians
During April this year, a street collection was held for the earthquake appeal for Ecuador. Wadebridge Rotary Club had links with the Rotary Club of Manta, in Ecuador when in 2004 members hosted a group of Ecuadorians visiting the area on a Rotary Group Study Exchange. The collection, donations from individual Rotarians and from the club's charity account, amounted to £735.
Through personal contacts in Manta, Ecuador the local Rotary Club was sent the £735 to provide relief locally. We have now received a letter of thanks from the Rotary Club President with details of how the aid money has been spent, together with photographs of shelters providing accommodation.

Dear Colleagues,
We will like to express our sincere thanks for your messages of support and your solidarity for making possible the donation of $1040 to our Rotary Club of Manta.
The money donated was used to buy shelters that were delivered by members of our Club to victims of the city of Bahia de Caraquez, who lost their homes in the earthquake of April 16, 2016.
The shelters delivered has been helpful to families who lost their homes can have a decent and safe place to live while they can rebuild their houses. In addition, the shelters can be used in the future for the construction of their houses thanks to the material they are made of.
We attach the receipt, delivery record and photographs.
