The Rotary Club of Wadebridge held their Christmas party evening at the Swan Hotel Wadebridge, when just over 40 members and partners attended. An excellent traditional meal was provided by the resident chef, Stuart, and his staff.
The Evening's Entertainment started with each table being given "What are these? " picture sheets which caused great debate on each table trying to identify every-day objects photographed very close up and also some buidings photographed from a different angle.
Rtn Wayne Mitchell had the compere job regaling us with (awful) jokes and some reminiscences about "How we used to live". Wayne also won the Christmas Tie competition, with a flashing tie of Christmas lights made by Ann, his wife. Cathy Shipwright. our Assistant Governor, presented the prize of a bottle of wine.
Rtn Martin Broadfoot dressed as an elf to tell us the story of the Fairy on the Christmas Tree; very funny just laughing at the costume! Jo, his wife, commented she had not seen the costume before so perhaps a closet elf !!!!!
Rtn Bob Johns proudly walked off, having won a wonderful wine hamper in a Christmas Draw.
The evening ended with traditional Carols sung by all, with thanks to Rtn Nick Saunders on the Keys !
Yet to come the gathered partners were asked to Name the Rotarian Dwarf; I don't mind as long as I am not Dopey, results yet to come !!!
In essence a lovely jolly evening of festive fellowship and friendship.
Many thanks to Kim and Sarah, our regular waitresses for supplying the mints and chocolates.
