More Rotary Aid for Kosovo

Rotary and Local Schools team up to help children in Kosovo.
On Friday the 29th of September at 9 am, a convoy of three vehicles will leave Liskeard Fire Station bound for Kosovo.
This will be the 61st convoy of Humanitarian Aid to be made by Cornwall and West Devon's Rotary Overseas Project Team (OPT). However, in addition to medical supplies and wheel chairs, there will be 187 fully equipped computers going to schools in Gjakova the Western Regional Capital of Kosovo. This town was severely damaged in the war with Serbia and many of the pupils are orphans. It is estimated that this gift will benefit 7,000 pupils. It is all supported by a £10K Matching Grant from the Rotary International Foundation.
Several local schools, Including Launceston College have contributed the IT equipment which is all fully functional. This is the first time that Rotary has been able to team up with local educational establishments to help children overseas.
In addition to the computers, a 17 seat minibus donated by the St Teath community will be used to transport children needing regular dialysis from the surrounding countryside. The final vehicle in the convoy will be a Vauxhall Astra Van donated by Plymouth City Transport to be used as a paramedic response vehicle. The OPT team has its own vehicle and trailer and the drivers will be Rotarians from Launceston, Lostwithiel and Liskeard and Looe Valley Clubs
