Having two beaches in Teignmouth we are aware of how polluted they can get. Especially the Back Beach which tends to be a bit of a party beach in summer. This can also collect any rubbish brought down from the river. It's tidal but not as strong as the main beach so it can accumulate. Every now and then volunteers are called upon to have a beach clean day.

Beach cleaning involves volunteers collecting litter, like plastics, glass etc, from shorelines to protect marine life and ecosystems. To participate safely, use gloves and litter pickers, bring water and sunscreen, and avoid touching harmful items like needles. You can join existing cleanups by contacting local environmental groups or even organize your own.
