Teignmouth Rotary helped to set up Memory Cafe

Extract from Teignmouth Post 20/11/09 .....

Everyone who thinks they may be having trouble with their memory can now find help and advice at a new Teignmouth initiative.

The memory cafe at The Woodway Activity Centre in the White House, Woodway Road, is a social and information centre set up and organised by Volunteering in Health along with health professionals and local Rotarians.

Teignmouth mayor, Cllr Vince Fusco, opened the unit and said 'Older people need lovely places like this so they can enjoy their life and live longer'.

Tina Graham, the Volunteering in Health manager, added: 'We want to create an environment where people can receive help and support.

The Woodway is now a full centre for dementia patents run by Centrum Care Homes. The memory cafe is now held at the Alice cross centre for individuals living with memory loss or dementia, as well as their carers and families.
