The Citizen of the year awards recognise exceptional individuals who make significant positive impacts to the local community. This year our Citizen of The Year 2026 is Maria Gavan.
Rotary Club of South Molton - Citizen of the Year
The Citizen of the year awards recognise exceptional individuals who make significant positive impacts to the local community. These awards honour, promote and celebrate people who demonstrate responsible citizenship.
The Rotary Club of South Molton Citizen of the Year for 2026 is Maria Gavan. As well as looking after the safety of South Molton school children as the lollipop lady for many years, Maria is deeply involved in community activities for the Church and for a number of local charities.
The award ceremony will take place in the Assembly Rooms in South Molton on 21st April, starting at 6.30pm. There will be live music, a buffet supper, and a bar . The presentation of the award will be made by the Mayor. Tickets are available from the Rotary Shop on 9 Broad Street, £8 for adults and £4 for those aged 16sand under.
